Halfway there
Next week is start of the second semester, and with the end of June nearing as well, I guess you could say we are halfway there.
I went to see the SACE drama play, Muriel's Wedding on Wednesday night. Not having seen the movie, Tom filled me in on the general storyline on the way there. Naturally people are going to compare this play with the IB one, and I think most people would agree that Muriel's Wedding was a better experience overall. The turnout alone suggested this (or maybe that was just because Lauren has a massive family). But anyway. Accidental Death of an Anarchist is quite the intellectual play and was hard to understand for most (or maybe it was the fact that 4 pages of script were skipped and then redone at a later stage) (or maybe it because I have a "dumb brain", according to Fardlinger). Ok enough of the "or maybes". Just to draw a parallel between the two, both plays had their moments of randomness such as the chinesesified Mambo No. 5 in MW and the Peter Garrett dancing in Anarchist. This I approved.
Open soccer this morning was... interesting. The A's and B's were playing at different venues, so players had to be shuffled between the three teams to ensure everyone had 11 and preferably a sub or two. The A's were supposed to play St Pauls College, but for some reason this game got cancelled and so a game was organised between us and Woodcroft's B side. We were fairly confident we were going to win and we fought hard the first 20 mins. A plethora of chances, yet no conversion. We eventually managed to put away three goals (Jeremy [1] and David [2]), and we conceded one. Ashwin in a heroic attempt, dove at the ball, actually I'm not even sure what happened, but he came in contact with a player and was left with a nasty gash over his left brow. First I thought he had a blood nose, but yea, he might want to get that stitched up. Cullen replaced him and did a good job. Yea, so considering it was their B squad, we really could have done better. But a win is a win.
Next up was the C's game who had just 5 or 6 of their own players because a couple had to fill in for the B's and the rest are just no-shows and for that they deserve to burn in hell. So most of us A players were called upon to play yet another match. Seeing as the school soccer league has no rules against performance enhancing drugs I decided to take one 10ml vial of Guarana before the game. It was hard to tell if it did anything or not but some claim I was running more than usual. We'll see. By now though, the Guarana had worn off and my legs had little left to give. Our defense was able to hold up ok and we sneaked in an early goal (Chris) to put us one-nil up. We got a lot of chances throughout the game but none resulted in a goal. St Pauls' wog all-stars had a couple of fair chances too through their skillful "releases". Nearing the end I went to take a goal kick and as I did a massive cramp shot into my right calf muscle. Yikes. So down I went. It was probably a sign that I'd played too much and so I went off. St Paul's then scored two goals, meaning we lost 2-1. Yes a sad ending, but with a team put together at the last second with the majority of players already having one game behind them, it was a fair effort.
We play Rostrevor next week, quite possibly in an intoxicated state as it is the Social the night before. Should be interesting.
So that's soccer. (I am yet to find out how the B's went against Westminster).
That's really all I wanted to say.
This is what I want you to see:

This is Jimmy, caught red-handed, destroying yet another roll of toilet paper

Tonight's sunset

And just to the left of that
I think I'll take it easy the weekend, seeing as there's plenty of work to be done, and next week will be a fairly big weekend with the social, and the weekend after that...
