Thou shalt not murder
What is up my loyal readers!?
I write to you in a state of utter boredom and hunger. My parents are trying to be Australian by going to the footy... I tried to tell them. Anyway this leaves me with no dinner. I could heat up some leftovers...
Just chatting to Ephrem, he suggested:

I'm feeding myself on my last Bravara beer (Imported from Brazil). Please don't remove my feeding tube, my brain still works. HAHAHA. Yes Terri Schiavo died and good on her. I feel bad she had to be starved. There are injections that do it A LOT quicker, but OH NO, this would be euthanasia and that's murder! BAAAAD. I fully backed Schiavo's husband decision in removing the tube. Conservatives and religious people, who we all love because they hold back any sort of change or technological developments, all screamed murder. But let's face it. Was Schiavo really living?

LOL. I found an argument against Schiavo's death:
"Not long after Terri's injury, Michael melted down her wedding and engagement rings to make a ring for himself."
-Typical... Michael is evil! He wants Terri to die!
Politically this was much more than just Schiavo's case; the future outcome of other "life vs death" issues such as abortion and stem cell research would also be affected by the decisions made in this debate.
Holland is one of the few, and the first country to have officially legalised Euthanasia. This doesn't mean you can walk into any hospital and decide to kill yourself (license to kill), but under certain conditions, patients are able to receive euthanasia or assisted suicide. Especially those patients for are terminally-ill and who are experiencing prolonged and unnecessary suffering. The mother of one of my good friends in the Netherlands was suddenly diagnosed with cancer and she chose to receive euthanasia as she was very ill and enduring a lot of pain and didn't want her life to be unnecesarrily prolonged.
"Persons 16 years old and older can make an advance "written statement containing a request for termination of life" which the physician may carry out."
This is similar to the Respecting Patient Choices program which the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is running. Instead of a request for termination of life, patients can choose their preferred treatment when their condition worsens. For example they may decide that they don't want to have a feeding tube or respiration machines etc
Funny thing is you don't need to be a Dutch citizen to receive euthanasia in Holland and the "prospect of "euthanasia tourism" exists". Now you know where to go when you're feeling depressed.
Anyway this issue really interests me and it's definitely something to consider focusing on for my TOK Oral. I can incorporate ethics, religion, politics and of course sciences (of the brain).
Indoor semi-final is tomorrow! Our game is at 7:00pm (could be 6:00pm) so come out and watch us (or just me).
