I may or may not have ruptured my quadricep
Yes, sports day this year around was tough on many. I sit here with a cold pack down my pants (I know this may arouse some of you, but there's nothing much I can do about it) and a compression bandage wrapped around my left thigh.
The blistering thirty degree heat that one person of italian descent (who shall remain nameless) described as:
"OMG OMG IT'S SOOOO HOT OMG!!! GET ME SOME WOTTA OMG! DIS IS KILLA WEATHA"
was tough to compete in.
I'm not usually prone to injury, yet today was my turn. My leg muscles are TIGHT nigger, and the only reason I can think of is that my bones have grown relatively faster than my muscles. What can you do.
A combination of soccer training, lack of stretching meant that, the moment I stepped out of the sand pit after my first attempt at long jump, I felt a sharp discomfort in both of my quadricep muscles. Many of you will recall me saying AAARGH I RUPTURED MY QUADS on multiple occasions. The fact that this may or may not have been an exeggeration is not the point. The pain was there. Another two jumps didn't really ease the pain either. Just you wait Edgar, you still have to run the 200m, 100m and possibly a relay.
One of those ended up happening. The 200m. I managed fourth place not long before stumbling off the track into the first aid room, where it was surprisingly busy. All I wanted was some ice, which took the so called "sports medicine team" ladies over 20 minutes. Of course they were very occupied treating Sebastian Guilhaus, the man stupid enough to wear no shoes in two consecutive sprints. Upon entering the ward, he proclaimed "AAH MY FEET ARE ON FIRE". And so they were.
Finally I got my ice.
I was ok after that, I just sat down amap. I pulled out of the remaining events and that's my story.
The controversy of course was the disqualification of the McAuley U/20 relay boys who allegedly performed their first changeover outside the boundaries. Nevertheless it was amazing to watch them. David, Seb, Jessie and Mounir(aka T1000).
I have suddenly lost interest in posting.
