g0t sickness? :S

Greetings,

As most of you are aware my dear mother is currently visiting the homeland to partake in the festivities surrounding her mother's 80th birthday. It leaves our reduced family of four to take up typical woman's work; washing, cooking, finding a way to get us to school, taking care of the dog. Remember, Ibsen was NOT a feminist.

It's been going ok so far, Juliette and I have been taking the bus home on most days; it is doable I suppose, it takes a lot longer and walking up the hill isn't exactly, well, "gezellig" in Dutch terms.

Whether by pure coincidence or not, not that mum is in Holland our family has been struck by abrupt and severe illnesses, lasting up to 24hrs in some cases. First, Dad was diagnosed with what seemed to be a pretty bad case of food poisoning. Vomiting and irregular bowel movement followed. The next day, Marten woke up feeling average. As the morning progressed he started feeling more and more sick and he too ended up donating his stomach contents to toilet. He recovered by the next day. Friday morning, and it proved to be my lucky day. Everything was as usual, struggling to wake up I eventually rolled out of bed straight into a hot shower. It wasn't until breakfast that I noticed that I wasn't all that hungry. In fact I was feeling pretty shonky and ended up skipping breakfast. I realised there was a fair chance that I too was going to be sick, but really wanting to miss any lessons I decided to see to go to school anyway. Bad move soldier. It was no use, I felt sicker and sicker and so I ended up getting picked up by the end of the first lesson. At home, I laid down for a while when it became clear that I had also contracted the deadly disease. My body was pulling the emergency release cord at both ends, and let's just say it wasn't pretty. After several hours of suffering and a restless night, I slowly recovered by this morning. Having not eaten and having lost a serious amount of body fluid, I now weigh about 4 kilo's less. Who needs Jenny Craig.

I missed out on Lauren's partay. But I knew I was ok when I found myself shooting ppl's heads off over the internet through something called Counter-Strike. I had'nt been this sick in a while, but fortunatly these virus type illnesses don't last more than a day and I'd rather be sick now, than in a few weeks when the exams are on.

I thank you for listening.

The DutchOven.
