I plucked this from another blog, let's see what the Dutchman thinks on some of the following:

Abortion? One very complex issue in today's world. There are so many different circumstances where abortion can come into play. I reckon it's too complicated to put a law on it or one rule that says yes or no. Talk to me in a few years time, maybe then I have an opinion.

Death Penalty? Killing criminals for severe crimes they've committed seem harsh, but if person A kills person B, isn't the minimal punishment for person A to die also? Of course it has to be absolutely certain that person A is the culprit, because convicting someone innocent who will then face a death penalty... yikes. Oh, and electric chair, that's a no, use lethal injection please.

Prostitution? I've got one word for you, Red Light District!...I know, it was three words...But I've got nothing against prostitution, it's legal in Holland and as far as I know it all runs smoothly :D

Alcohol? I think alcohol on it's own, when used responsibly, is no problem at all. It is when people get overly drunk, (and then drive!) that things can get dangerous. You have to be in control of yourself. I do admit, a bit of booze is great to get into the mood and it can certainly double your fun.

Marijuana? In a way marijuana is safer than alcohol and has less known problems on the body than smoking. Very much a legal product in the Netherlands, with an age limit obviously.(don't expect to be served coffee in the coffee shops there) It eliminates the policing of marijuana. Often on the news here you see a drug bust with armies of policemen dragging these grand pot plants out of suburban homes...come on people!

Other drugs? I say no, if you really need drugs for non medical purposes then something in your life is not right and I suggest you get help. Don't pump yourself full of whatever it is you pump yourself full of. That's a wise lesson folks...

Gay marriage? Ah fabulous. But NO. Marriage is meant to be between men and women. If people of the same sex want some sort of bond, then fine, but it should be different to normal marriage. If they really find it necessary to be recognised as a couple I suggest they should be able to be registered as partners or something and if they want to have a wedding and wear rings go ahead.

Illegal immigrants? I am against illegal immigrants 100%. Refugees are A OK. How do you tell the difference? What do you do with them in the mean time? Good question...

Smoking? Bah, it's bad for you.

Drunk driving? Very very irresponsible. Endangering your life, and that of others. Do I sound like the guy on the drunk driving ads? "Drink, drive, bloody idiot"

Cloning? Cloning for the sake of getting another human, well why? We can just make babies the normal way? Cloning for medical reasons like stem cell research, yes, that's good. I think discarding an embryo is not killing, or "killing potential life". If it is killing potential life then what is wearing a condom? By the way we all want to see Christopher Reed get up out of his wheelchair and fly.

Racism? I suppose it is inevitable, and I can't really say "I don't agree with it", because it is reality it's human nature. People are different, whether that's a different culture, skin colour or race and we will be judgemental even if we don't say it. People call me Dutch all the time, sometimes jokingly, sometimes not. *Breaks down and cries*

Premarital sex? Yes!, I don't think there is even such a thing anymore in today's world. Maybe just the strictly religious...

Religion? Not for me. My parents were both raised religiously (Catholic and Dutch reformed) and both stopped going to Church. I think all religions are based around the same guidelines. Love each other, don't steal, give more than you take sort of thing. However, they seem to be causing more trouble than doing good, with Muslim extremist doing some unthinkable things all in the name of Allah. Can you believe it? I think having or not having a religion doesn't make me any different. I have a good set of values, I don't break the law and just the idea of going to church and living up to "the almighty lord Jesus Christ" doesn't appeal to me. Apart from that, I have no problem with people who have a religion. My Dad's side of the family is very catholic and I will often going along to Sunday mass with everyone else. That only goes for when I'm in the Netherlands obviously.

The war in Iraq? Hmm another good one. I realise Saddam was a lunatic and he had to be removed. This is hard to justify for a country like America, so yes they possibly made up the weapons of mass destruction as an excuse to go in. But I think it is best for Iraq, and the majority Iraqis do agree. Imagine living under such a regime for all your life. You might want to read some of the famous Iraqi blogs, Where is Raed? is one of them. However in the long term (over decades to come) Iraq will be an example of a nice democratic Middle Eastern country where religion and state are separate. Hopefully others will follow.

Bush? I am rather opinionless. I don't listen to him talk often enough to really know if I agree with him or not. It seems to me people get into the habit of blaming Bush for anything that goes wrong, really Bush does jack and he has a lot of people behind him writing his speeches. I actually preferred Al Gore in the election campaign, we'll see if he stays in the coming elections.

Downloading music? From a consumer point of view, BOO YEA! (I am downloading at this very moment) From a producer point of view, yes you may or may not be losing a lot of money, but until I am a producer in the music industry, feed me more mp3.

The legal drinking age? Australia is pretty strict here. I don't even know the legal age in Holland. It must be about 18 as well. But what really surprises me is that in Australia you can't go into pubs or sit at the bar in cafes. What's with that? In Europe your free to go and sit wherever you want, you are just not allowed to buy anything alcoholic. And not to forget, alcohol has its own designated isle in the supermarket :D.

Porn? What's that? I'll have to ask David Wilson on that one. On a serious note, I don't think it is bad for you, it may convey some false ideas about sex and but its entertainment.

Suicide? If you arrive at this in life something is wrong and either you deserve to die or you need help.

Lovely, The exam week is over, it was overrated as usual and with the limited study I did I feel pretty pleased, I'll just have to wait what the results say. Packing for Nepabunna, its going to be UBER! Hope all the SACE people have a wonderful week of work experience and fellow IBers, let's teach those abodiginals how its done. I love abodiginals...
