Before I get onto the subject topic, I will just recap on the weekend and the preceding swimming carnival.
Yes, Friday was the day on which the swimming carnival was held and the weather forecast was somewhat like 37 degrees. I had signed up for the 50m free and 50m breaststroke which I ended up racing like 2 hours after the designated time. The freestyle race was first. I was allocated to swim in lane 1, and after the "get set" mark I anxiously awaited the gunshot from Mr. Thornton who was inches away. I waited, and thought, "gee its taking a while". "Ok it really should have gone off by now" " I think I missed it!" "DIVE@!!". A dove I did. Only the found out I false started because some fuckstick in lane 4 took too long to get ready. Back on the starting blocks, second time around and this time we all got in ok. As I was busting myself swimming, I popped my head out to the right to catch a breath every few strokes. During these fatal moments, I was (un)forunate enough to catch glimpes of a large, rather daunting, figure walking along side the pool. It wasn't just that, it was more the fact the HE so casually strolling and me busting myself actually thinking I was going fast. :( It was quite the demotivation. The very same person, Mr Dale Mazzachi, is more than happy to announce he is the new swimming coordinator. This man did nothing else but walking up and down the friggin' pool for no apparent reason with a race overview ticking of the races as they progressed. What a mind job! :O I got fourth in the race, being beating by Sam White, but beating David Wilson, that's right . a huh!
Anyhow, I did a second race which was of my more preferred stroke, the stroke of the breast. Yes this race was better because I am generally better @ breastroke. I noticed I am repeating myself, let's get on with it. I didn't false start, and I got THIRD! Apart from that, the annual novelties event was well enjoyed apart from Brazza cutting off our freetime. After the long hot day, I was tired.
That evening my parents were going to have a hit of tennis with their friends, which apart from the couple themselves includes three young children of about 6, 4 and 2. This family is Dutch. They only just came to Ausland and so we are sharing with them what we as foreign foreigners went through. Anyway, it was my lucky night. It had all the right ingredients. Extreme fatigue, Marten out, Juliette at her talent school and most importantly 3 hyperactive toddlers to myself, shoving a Dutch version of Peter Pan on VHS in my face "PUT IT ON PUT IT ON" in Dutch of course being "DOE HEM AAN DOE HEM AAN". sigh. So I sat the three on the beanbag put on the tape, thinking I would be relieved of the hyperactive whining. But oh no, they insisted I watch it with them. And the oldest one started explaining how there's a pirate captain with a hook who nearly get eaten by a crocodile... Yes little dutch girl, crocodile.. sigh.
It was soon Saturday, tennis was cancelled due to the 38 degree + weather forecast so that sucked. But at least I got to sleep in, unlike Ryan who went to school all prepped for a good morning's worth of tennis, when upon arrival he was told to go HOME. Poor b00ne. The rest of the day I just spent at home, as it was just too hot to do anything. I watched TV and Vanilla Sky (trippy ass movie that one) and I got no where near as much homework done as I would have like to, quelle honte (what a shame). Sunday was another quiet day with a little more homework completed.
Today was Monday and I had an orthodontist appointment to start off with. I'm with Dr Duthy on Hutt street and what a funny man he is. Another person that gets treatment there is a friend of ours (Dutch) called Hannie. So the the starting point for any conversation we have is, "So have you spoken to Hannie?". Sigh. Also, whenever we come in or leave. He says Gutentag or Aufwiedersehen respectively. He think we are GERMAN! schweinhund... We have attempted to convince him otherwise. e.g. Dude, seriously we're Dutch aiight? I mean really?! We don't take too much offence in it all. He did bring me some gospel (good news). Next visit I get my final wire in and after that I should be done within 3 months. So from like a 1.5 - 2 year treatment I've gone down to like 8 months. Sweet action. After the orthodontist, I went to school where the jubilee assembly was about to get underway in the prime location of the rose garden, for a fkn change. It was exciting and I refused to sing that old Mercedes song as it is of too high a pitch and it has a queer word "strewn" in it, WTF?!. Friggin nuns, (See below for an example of "friggin nuns")
The college in the early days, seen here are the foundation mercy nuns during a winter lunchtime
Shannon Darling made her re-appearance with the skirt that is not a skirt. Assembly finito, we moved off to lessons and the Monday passed with no specific points of interest.
I have written a lot.
Thank you for you patience
